AlexAlexandra Morgan Carrasco, an American professional soccer player plays as a striker in the San Diego Wave FC (NWSL), which is the highest level of women's soccer in United States. She also co-captained the United States women's soccer team from 2018 until 2020 along with Megan Rapinoe and Carli Lloyd. [8][9] Morgan was chosen by the Western New York Flash at number one in the 2011 WPS Draft. She had graduated from Berkeley in the early part of the year. Morgan also played for California Golden Bears. Morgan made her debut as a professional there , and was a key player in the team's winning the league title. Morgan was just 22 at the time, was the youngest player on the national team at the 2011 FIFA Women's World Cup, where the team finished as runners-up. At the 2012 London Olympics she scored the game-winning goal in the 123rd minute in the semi-final against Canada. She finished 2012 with 28 goals, 21 assists and Mia Hamm was the only American woman who scored both 20 and 20 goals. This made her the 6th-youngest U.S. player ever to reach 20 goals in one season. She was subsequently named U.S. Soccer Female Athlete of the Year , and was a FIFA World Player of the Year finalist. Morgan helped the United States win their titles in the 2015 and 2019 FIFA Women's World Cups, where she was named to the Dream Team for both tournaments as well as winning the Silver Boot in 2019.
